Drawing on the current and growing appeal of all things southern and all things artisan, this solid little book focuses on two hallmark southern ingredients that everyone from dusty-booted cowboy to bowtie-wearing CEO loves. Divided into two main parts—bourbon and bacon, naturally—it includes history and tasting notes for artisanal bacons and bourbons and a refined selection of 140 recipes for cocktails, infusions, punches, appetizers, main courses, sides, desserts, and more made with one or both of these fabulous ingredients. Southern Living Bourbon & Bacon includes at least 40 new original recipes from southern chefs and bartenders, artisan bacon producers, and the bourbon producers who line the Kentucky Bourbon Trail.
About the contributor(s):
There is, indeed, such a thing as a southern gentleman, and his name is Morgan Murphy. The best-selling author and former Southern Living travel editor exudes southern charm. He's a witty and accomplished writer and an Alabama native whose four favorite food groups are bacon, bourbon, biscuits, and pie. Murphy is the author of three books, including Off the Eaten Path and Off the Eaten Path: Second Helpings, and has penned countless articles for Vanity Fair, Forbes, Esquire, The New York Post, and Southern Living. A camera and radio natural, he has appeared on The Today Show, Fox & Friends, CNN, Sirius/XM, and NPR. And there's iron behind his cigar smoke: Murphy serves as a lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy and is a veteran of the war in Afghanistan. He is currently assigned to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
